New account

I've just made a new DeviantArt account so that I have a place to post my original graphic art. I've had a lot of fun doodling around in Illustrator this past year or so, and I thought it might be cool to actually start posting it somewhere. None of it is fanart though and didn't really seem like the sort of stuff to post to this account.

If you'd like to see my new art, head on over to Tiny Turtle Design!

A new direction

I popped back onto DeviantArt to post a new thing I made with my fancy-ass new Adobe Creative Cloud software (if you want Adobe CC, go to college — the student discount makes it so much cheaper), and the date of my last post is too old for me to ignore. So, despite not having much to say, I'm making a new one.

At this point, I don't know if I'll ever get the inspiration to finish my RS fic (the end is really stumping me, no matter how much I try to plot it out), but I'll probably be posting more regularly for a little while because I've got some serious inspiration for digital art going on right now. So if anyone who's watching me (thanks for eschewing "follow" or "subscribe" and making us all sound like creepers, DeviantArt) is into vector-based graphic design stuff and maybe a bit of Photoshop, you're in luck! I just posted an Avatar wallpaper and my next project is probably going to be something Zelda-ish because Zelda is awesome.

Apologies to anyone reading Shadows. Really. I feel terrible about that.

There's no denying it: I've been a bit of a ghost on the Internet for the past year. And golly, it's been quite a year.

I'm not really sure what I came here to say, it just annoyed me that my latest journal entry was so old. So here I am.

I finished my first year of college quite successfully, if I do say so myself. Met some awesome people. Learned some things. Got a life. It's certainly been interesting.

Anyway, I'm updating my fanfiction again. Hopefully I'll actually finish it this time.

I moved into college today.

My room is fairly large (at least compared the room my sister had last year), and all the furniture is moveable so I've made a little corner for myself with my desk and my wardrobe and it's quite lovely. There also aren't enough outlets and the desk chair is far too short for comfortable computer-usage, but nothing's perfect.

This weekend is just a bunch of orientation stuff. I'm honestly much more excited for my classes to begin on Monday than I am for all this socializing stuff. It's all just so exhausting, meeting people and talking to people and just generally being around people. There was a pep rally today, and it was far too loud and full of school spirit. They taught us a cheer that was seriously lacking in creativity so that when we go to sporting events we can properly cheer for our team. Because of course I'll be attending sporting events and eagerly cheering for something I care very little about. (I really doubt it.)

Despite that little bout of negativity there, I really am pretty excited for all of this. It looks like I might be able to do my work study in the library, which would be awesome. And none of my classes are anything I don't want to take. And I met someone else who was homeschooled and we bonded a little over that, so that was cool.

So yeah. New bit of life happening here. It's weird to be living somewhere new and not seeing people that I had been seeing all the time, but it's also quite an adventure and I'm rather looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

Summertime...

2 min read
Yesterday, my family had a party. An outdoor party. In the sun.

I wore a tanktop. I also wore sunscreen (after a fashion). However the sunscreen was apparently only 15 SPF. Because my mother has a better skin tone than myself and doesn't really burn much.

I was too stubborn to go inside. I was really enjoying a game of enthusiastically unskilled badminton.

Today, I am redder than I have ever been in my life. My shoulders are burned. My neck is burned. My legs are burned. My arms are burned. My chest is burned. You get the idea.

I can barely lift my arms to a ninety degree angle. My skin feels as though it is simultaneously being torched from the outside and baked from the inside. (Or maybe vice versa — it's difficult to tell.) Clothes feel like sandpaper. When I stand outside, the sun feels as though it's a foot away from me. I am developing rather funny tan lines.

Oh, summer, how I love thee.

–A totally baked Kina

P.S. I have also stabbed my left thumb with a razor blade and gouged a chunk of skin from my right index finger with my own thumbnail. Am I accident-prone or just stupid?
